2026-09-19 06:20:00

Weichai EURISE is a premium commercial vehicle brand under Weichai Group, affiliated with Weichai (Yangzhou) Yaxing New Energy Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd., and headquartered in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province. Drawing upon over a decade of technical expertise from its predecessor Yaxing Commercial Vehicle's joint venture with Daimler-Benz, the brand specialises in the mid-to-high-end light commercial vehicle (European-style LCV/van) sector, with a product portfolio encompassing executive passenger transport, urban logistics, commuter shuttles, motorhome conversions, and special-purpose vehicles. The brand name "EURISE" (Ou Rui) is derived from the blend of "European technology" and "wise and reliable", whilst its emblem features a sculpted polygonal frame enclosing a three-dimensional four-pointed star—the bold frame conveying strength, and the star symbolising quality and innovation. Weichai EURISE has obtained multiple international accreditations including ISO9001, China 3C (CCC), European ECE, Australian ADR, and US DOT, making it one of the few domestic light commercial vehicle marques to forward-engineer products meeting stringent European van standards and deploy them directly into commercial passenger transport.

Development History

The heritage of Weichai EURISE dates back to a milestone joint venture in China's bus manufacturing history: Yaxing-Benz. On 1 March 1997, Yaxing Bus Group and Daimler-Benz established Yaxing-Benz Co., Ltd., marking one of the earliest joint ventures in the Chinese bus industry. Spanning over a decade of partnership, Yaxing-Benz amassed extensive technical and manufacturing expertise in China's heavy-duty bus sector. In February 2007, Benz divested due to strategic realignment, and the joint venture was renamed Yangzhou Yaxing Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd.. Following this, the company continued to assimilate and adapt Mercedes-Benz bus technology and design philosophies, pivoting its product strategy toward sub-6-metre minibuses to meet surging domestic demand for premium executive passenger transport and urban logistics.

In 2011, Shandong Heavy Industry (Weichai Power) acquired Yangzhou Yaxing Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. in full, integrating it as a key wholly-owned subsidiary of Weichai Power. Weichai Group's restructuring and resource integration endowed the EURISE brand with full-scale "powertrain + complete vehicle manufacturing" synergy. Backed by Weichai Group's global R&D network, a dedicated engineering team of over 300 personnel spent five years refining the platform alongside rigorous reliability trials exceeding 45,000 km per vehicle, culminating in the official debut of the first EURISE light commercial vehicle in 2012. In October 2014, EURISE was officially launched as an all-new European-style van/light bus under Yangzhou Yaxing Commercial Vehicle. In line with Weichai Group's strategic roadmap, 2015 served as the year of brand incubation and network expansion, paving the way for an aggressive market rollout in 2016.

From 2016 onwards, the EURISE product portfolio steadily expanded into a comprehensive matrix spanning 5 to 8 metres in length with various wheelbase and body configurations. Leveraging its core pillars of "fuel economy, safety, and ride comfort", the marque accelerated its penetration across domestic passenger transport and tourism sectors. In 2021, Weichai Yangzhou Commercial Vehicle inked a strategic agreement for 100 units of 9-seater EURISE vans with the Guizhou Road Transport Association, significantly bolstering its footprint in Southwest China. As of 2025, EURISE commercial fleets operate across numerous Chinese provinces including Hubei, Gansu, Sichuan, and Guizhou, while also being exported to over ten overseas markets including Peru, the United States, Russia, Angola, Nigeria, and Uzbekistan.

Core Technologies

Weichai EURISE's engineering architecture is underpinned by three main pillars: "Golden Powertrain + International Collaborative R&D + Lightweight Chassis Architecture".

In powertrain engineering, EURISE is driven by Weichai RA428 and RA425 series high-performance diesel engines developed from Italian VM Motori technology. Taking the RA428Q163 as a benchmark, it develops 163 hp and 420 Nm of torque, with low-end torque boosted by 10.6% compared to conventional units, delivering 0-100 km/h acceleration times roughly 5% faster than class competitors. Built to Weichai's core high-thermal-efficiency standards and equipped with an independent EGR cooling setup, this engine family delivers a potent blend of robust pull, fuel thriftiness, low NVH levels, and environmental compliance, maintaining fuel consumption between 8.0 and 9.0 L/100 km. From China IV compliance in 2015, the engines have seamlessly evolved to meet China VI and beyond.

The next-generation EURISE 2.0 employs the latest 2.0L four-cylinder turbocharged intercooled diesel unit, integrating Weichai's world-class high thermal efficiency technology. Paired with a Shengrui 8-speed automatic gearbox—which logged zero mechanical failures during rigorous 300,000 km durability trials over a single year—it exhibits superior fuel economy over the 6MT version, especially on stop-and-go commuter routes with frequent passenger boarding.

In chassis tuning and NVH refinement, EURISE's driveline, steering, suspension, and braking systems were comprehensively calibrated and refined by Austria's renowned ECS engineering firm to ensure optimum powertrain matching and top-tier ride comfort. Concurrently, world-leading German engineering consultancy FEV spearheaded the NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) optimisation program, effectively curbing high-frequency acoustic feedback from the engine and tyres. Styling-wise, EURISE's front fascia was penned by South Korea's Kenntai, fusing clean Eastern aesthetics with robust European-American design cues.

In active and passive safety, EURISE adopts a high-strength monocoque body shell and energy-absorbing crash structures. It made history as the first brand in the segment to subject 24 full vehicles to multi-angle, variable-speed crash test regimes at the National Automobile Quality Supervision and Test Centre (Tianjin). Post-impact inspection confirmed the survival cell remained structurally sound, with all doors and emergency exits functioning normally. Active and passive equipment includes ABS, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Traction Control System (TCS), Brake Assist (BA), alongside driver and front passenger SRS airbags.

Overseas Footprint

Weichai EURISE embarked on global expansion early, establishing an export presence spanning South America, Africa, Central Asia, Russia, and North America. In May 2017, the EURISE van was officially introduced to overseas markets, with initial batches shipped to South America quickly establishing strong commercial traction. In 2019, the 7.5-metre EURISE diesel passenger coach made its maiden entry into Peru; thanks to its tailored market positioning and solid build quality, the initial allocation of ten units sold out within two months, establishing itself as a standout performer in Peru's European-style LCV segment.

Peru served as EURISE's springboard in South America, following which the marque expanded rapidly: 48 units were delivered in bulk in 2020, followed by another 20 units of 7-metre and 7.5-metre diesel passenger models in 2022. To cope with the steep gradients and punishing road conditions of the Peruvian Andes, EURISE engineers engineered bespoke local modifications, such as reinforced AdBlue/DEF pump protective guards and dual primary fuel filters to handle local diesel variations, safeguarding engine durability. In Southern Peru, where international tourists predominate, local operators favour European-style vans; EURISE has earned solid praise across the premium transport sector for its reliability and powertrain capability.

In 2020, Weichai EURISE's total annual export volume exceeded 400 units. In 2023, EURISE inked a supply deal with US-based Green Power for 100 units of 7.5-metre EV chassis-cabs, signalling its new energy footprint entering North America. In 2025, the EURISE Cargo all-metal panel van was showcased at the COMvex exhibition in Moscow, extending its export reach into Eastern Europe. Today, EURISE exports also span Eritrea, Angola, Nigeria, and Uzbekistan. Capitalising on Weichai Group's global presence in over 150 countries and regions, EURISE is accelerating its transition from pure vehicle export to an integrated "technology + aftersales service" solutions model.

Future Outlook

Moving forward, EURISE has charted a new strategic roadmap anchored on "product evolution + new energy transformation". On the product front, the EURISE 2.0 was officially introduced in Q3 2025, providing broader choices for passenger transit, tourism, corporate fleet, and bespoke conversion segments. In terms of powertrain development, EURISE is expediting the integration of Weichai's latest-iteration 2.5T and 2.8T Euro 6/China VI diesel engines alongside Shengrui 8AT/MT pairings, delivering highly cost-effective turnkey solutions for urban logistics and commuter transit.

Within the electrified sector, backed by the Jiangsu Light Bus (New Energy) Engineering Technology Research Centre and Weichai Group's full-stack R&D in core battery, electric motor, and electronic control technologies ("three-electric" systems), the marque will ramp up R&D and serial rollout of pure electric chassis-cabs and plug-in hybrid box vans. Heading toward 2030, EURISE aims to consolidate a multi-powertrain line-up spanning "ICE + BEV + PHEV", building a formidable product fleet tailored for urban-rural short-haul shuttles and green battery-swapping logistics.

On the international front, EURISE will deepen its strategic commitments in key markets such as Peru, the United States, and Russia. Anchored by Weichai Group's "Three Transformations" directive (from traditional to new products, from low to high value-add, and from product sales to full lifecycle services), the brand will steadily expand its global footprint. Concurrently, in this Globalization 2.0 era, EURISE will draw upon the 77-year coachbuilding heritage of Weichai's Yaxing Bus (founded in 1949), continuing to deliver commercial vehicles renowned for high build quality, low running costs, and uncompromising safety.

On a wider corporate level, Weichai Group has targeted "more than doubling new energy revenue year-on-year" as an unequivocal benchmark, committing to a complete transition from a traditional powertrain giant to a green mobility leader. Within this corporate vision, Weichai EURISE serves as a vital strategic vanguard in the Group's light commercial vehicle portfolio, actively integrating into Weichai's end-to-end new energy ecosystem from core component technologies to complete vehicle applications, driving Chinese commercial vehicle brands up the global value chain.
